8. Wallets

How are wallets created?

Each profile has a set of wallets, one for each currency (GBP and EUR). Wallets are created after the profile is verified. The balance (pence/cents) is returned in the data.

You cannot create, update or delete wallets, only get the balance, bank and account details. See the API documentation.

Funding a wallet

There are four ways to fund a wallet:

1.  Transfer money from one profile to another profile.
2.  Transfer money using Direct Debit to a wallet.
3.  Using open banking.
4.  Using a bank transfer (outside of Customate) to fund the wallet, specifying the sort code & account number (IBAN for EUR). Although the transfer is done outside of Customate, Customate will create  an incoming payment (including webhook event) when the money arrives.
